Union Pacific Railroad Museum
The UPRR Museum is housed in an old Carnegie Library, which makes the building far more interesting to me than its contents! I believe Bill had a great time looking at train stuff while I prowled around. The docents there were lovely, and didn't try to interest me in trains.
Later that same day we went to visit Granville Dodge's historic mansion, and it was fascinating and beautiful, but they didn't allow photography.

We've been in the Kansas City area all week visiting kids and grandkids, having a fun time. Monday morning we fly to Maine. We're not taking our computers, so you won't see any posts from either of us while we're gone. (Not that you would notice ... we haven't exactly been here a lot lately!) Hopefully we'll have some time to catch up when we're back in Kansas City. I believe we'll be back here the night of October 14th.

Ah, the idea of traveling and seeing all kinds of cool things, including this nicely/deliciously/scrumptiously moody stairway landing; it makes me think of those long-ago and faraway days on the other side of the Atlantic. I love how you got both the light and the shadow to cooperate: that's always a fun challenge and you nailed it here and to top it off, the colors are wonderfully subtle...the yellow/greens are such a great compliment to the shadows and implied wood-tones. And the mood is just begging for a story or two or three or four...this one photo evokes all kinds of things. That's what really stands out with this photo: so much is implied!
