Description
Last Sunday, my wife & I drove down to the Mt. Shasta area & hiked at Castle Lake. A friend had recommended this hike & we found a hiking guide at our local library with information about it. The driving directions were a little hard to follow as some of the signs they told us to follow were either faded or nonexistent & the hike, which they described as "easy" was actually pretty rocky & rough & definitely at least "moderate" in our opinion. My wife, who had cataract surgery in one eye a few weeks ago & is set to have the other one done in about a week, had trouble with the terrain due to her impaired depth perception from having "mismatched" eyes.
Though we cut our hike short due to her problems (only did about 2 1/2 miles), we did appreciate the beauty of this area. The lake is crystal clear & is surrounded by wonderful rock formations & trees & vegetation that have just started to turn colors...
Please zoom.

One person's 'easy' is another's 'impossible'! What a beautiful place this looks.
I wish your wife well! I fully understand her issues with her eyes. This is a great view
This is stunning my friend, I wish your wife all the best for her operation :)
This is a must zoom photo. Love the transparency of the lake water and the way you've postworked the colors...
Please tell Arlene I've had both eyes done 2-3 years ago. It is great...have never seen so well.
Oh yeah, I totally get the "mismatched eyes" thing! Hiking on rocky or seriously uneven ground is a "no way" for me. Short bits are okay ... Bill helps me along ... but there are places I just won't go. It isn't worth breaking an ankle out in the middle of nowhere.
