Description
A David Austin rose. This has a delicious rose fragrance with aspects of raspberry, peach and a hint of mint. It makes a medium sized shrub of bushy growth and is remarkably free of disease.
Named after the title of Michael Lipman's biography of Thomas Fairchild, a London nurseryman and Fellow of the Royal Society, who made the first recorded flower hybrid in Europe in the year 1720. This was a cross between a Sweet William and a Carnation, which became known as 'Fairchild's mule'.

Mmmm I can almost smell it from your wonderful description.
Nice!
The wild carnations in California were my favorite. Now you have come along with this amazing rose that has both rose an carnation. I can close my eyes and smell it together. Beautiful
Very very well captured !!!
I bet it smells heavenly! Wonderful capture of this hybrid
WOW! it is Gorgeous. It looks so much like a peony. :)
delicious
Such a gorgeous image. From the title I expected some eccentric English inventor. Come to think of it, Fairchild was an inventor. From your description it sounds like it would make a nice drink.
A real beauty.
