Description
Captured 5/1/16, on the beautiful grounds of the beautiful Homestead Museum in beautiful City of Industry, California.
They played several old fashioned tunes for the visitors and dancers.
Since the image was virtually a high contrast silhouetted photo, lots of postwork was involved to bring it up to snuff.

Great job.
Fantastic capture once again Harry !!!
Your description of the original (high contrast silhouette) makes me appreciate your postwork for all of these Homestead shots. We can see the intense light here, but you brought out quite a bit of detail in the people, their clothing, and their instruments. The blacks are deep and so are the silvery tones. I don't know what you worked with, but the result shows real skill, Harry, and lots of clarity. And I love the instruments, and of course all the electronic gear---which is always fun when mixed with old fashioned music. It actually adds a lot of dark accents, which help the contrast of the work. Fine clarity and presence.
(Playing outside for whoever listens can be a crazy experience: You're up there playing your heart out---often in heat that makes you wanna wilt---and sometimes 30 minutes will pass without a person listening...and then, some people listen for a second and start talking or eating and walk away. I'm not saying the listeners are wrong---you may not be playing all that well, to begin with---but it's still a disjunctive experience. And I can empathize with these musicians, who may be thinking, "I could be playing in the Boston Symphony..." The outfits can be difficult too, if it's really hot out...)
