Hi everyone...
I know I said I'd be back some weeks ago, but I had so much work, I just needed more time. I'm sorry, I didn't want to be gone this long and I hope to be back with you soon...
In the meantime, April 15th was the anniversary of the passing of a very dear man. After seeing Ana's gorgeous portrait of him---and a beautiful rose (anaber)---I wanted to add something to her tribute. His name was koosievantutte---or Hans---and he was very special man.

He was Dutch, and so gentle---yet he had an absolute vision of what was so right in art; and he gave it as if giving you a plate of jewels. He left such short comments that, if you got 3 lines from him, we joked that we'd just received a Nobel Prize. But he said so much privately...When I came here, I'd been away from art for years; and it was Hans (along with the amazing 2D Forum in those days) who assured me that I could "do art again". He greeted you with inimitable hugs, and made you 'better'. There's no other way to say it: He made you better. He was that kind of man...
If you're new to his gallery, you might think he was a delightful gamesman---well, he was: with his pawns and cartoons and commentaries and so on...but there was so much depth inside: impeccable observations, beautiful figure drawing, such knowing architectural and graphic art and more...and he did it subtly: You thought he'd 'breathed' art rather than made it. One day, he gave me his private email and I felt initiated into a most special realm; and in the year following---his last---I got to taste what others had known: the magic and embrace of dear Hans.
In his final months, he called me from Europe, and his voice was so charming and melodious, I wouldn't let him go for an hour. He was dying, be he talked about architecture, beauty, the world, as if nothing was wrong. And when we hung up, I blurted: "Hans, I want you to heal! You don't know how much I want you to heal..." I began to cry, though he didn't hear it. And in his usual assuring way, he said: "No, Mark, that may not be in the cards: But thank you, thank you for saying it..." He comforted me, not the other way around. Then he sent his friends all his art supplies---pastels, pencils, paints---and we were so touched. He passed soon after, of cancer...
I can't make art now, but last night I returned to my first art: classical music. I composed this with violins on a keyboard, then filtered them to make them sound real. If you don't listen, then join me in remembrance; and please add memories of dear ones you've lost: I include them in my thoughts as well...
For the rest of you: This is a 6 minute mournful, but love-filled prayer. It's In the style of Bach (with a touch of late Beethoven); and I end---at 3:45---with a Bach chorale. The chorale always felt like gratitude to me, so I included it...
Everyone: I love your worlds and your gifts, and I promise to be back here soon.
And Hans:
I have nothing left but gratitude: You graced us with the gentlest love, and you'll never be forgotten...

Dear Mark! I thank you so much for posting this beautiful and very touching tribute to our dear friend Koosie. He would have adored this lovely lovely piece of music, as I do. It was a big loss for us, who knew him as such a loving and gentle man, when he passed away.

THANK YOU Mark:) for this tribute for Hans! All Your heart is here Mark !!! I think that i can ''see'' YOU in the keyboard playing this wonderful piece!! I have not words enough and i will listen to this, more than you can imagine! Hans loved violins a lot. He sent me once, in a mail, a music to cheer me up:)-the violins of Amsterdam- a music to listen each time i was sad, because it was what he used to do with good result:) Still listen to it often, often...so, this music that you created with violins, for him, it is the most wonderful tribute you could do for Hans! His heart was pure golden:) HE NEVER FORGOT ANYBODY OF US!!! always giving strength and doing a cheerful humor with our fears:) His presence in our galleries was such an honor! and YESS:)) 3 words of him, were like if it was a book!!!:)))))) Your words, Mark, are priceless...and i am extremely emotional by all that you wrote. We all, i am sure, always will miss him and will remember him:) I only can say THANK YOU to him and to YOU!

A wonderful tribute to your friend. I did not know him though I feel that I do through this heart warming story. You really are a very thoughtful friend. It is lovely to see a posting from you and I hope that we see more soon. I am now off to hear the music. ☺

Damn, man, I was near tears reading your tribute. What a superb musical requiem. And I was haunted by your words “I just need more time.” At some point in everyone’s life the ones who have departed outnumber the ones still with you.
It’s at times like these you realize tomorrow is not guaranteed and it is important for use to tell those we love how we feel.
You may be familiar with the idea that as long as we speak a person’s name they are never truly dead. For that reason Hans is still with us.

Leave a commentThis is so sad, listening to the tribute for your friend Hans and I am sorry for the loss and the friendship you had experienced here. Never the less, it was a fine tribute, Mark. I was also unfamiliar with this gentleman and artist, just like Nancy - but I have checked his gallery since and can honestly say, what a pure talent, with a special humour, wishing now that I would have and could have liked him also, as much as everyone else here, who does. Thanks for sharing this tribute.
I also did a bit of research on his avatar name, [I have always known it was an Opera by Mozart] but here with a little twist... Così fan tutte, ossia La scuola degli amanti (Women are like that, or The school for lovers) is an opera buffa with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and an Italina libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte.

Thank you so much for opening your heart. But you are all heart and healing like Anahata represents. The music makes me silent and fly away from the missing of Hans. Gives me warmth and peace. Brings me comfort, more than you can imagine. Wim and I are such music lovers and this is a great gift to enjoy for years. Your tribute is one of regards and great warmth and...although I knew him all my life...I could not have written a lovelier tribute. He regarded you all highly, spoke of you in such warm manners. I felt I knew you all too. And discovering, after these years, that he is still in your hearts is a GREAT GIFT. I know he knows and appreciates all in his place in The Light. . You are right, he adored people and loved to share knowledge in many ways. That is why he was so fond being a member of RR. Thanks very much Mark, this memeory will be kept in my yearbook to look back in times of remembering. Wishing you have found your way back to RR and having no more trouble with technique tc.

I', deeply imprest, dear friend! In the first place by your touching words where you write about this dear friend of yours, Hans. But not in the last I'm very impressed by your intense sensitive, so tenderly performed composition.

I'm not familiar with his work, but I'll take a look - I'm sure I'll regret it being too late to know him.

Wow! This music and dedication to your friend is extremely touching. I really do not have the gift of expressing how this makes me feel. I had realized that many people on this site seem to know each other in real life too even across the oceans, but I did not realize how very strong some of those connections are. Through this beautiful music and your poignant words you have brought back to life this wonderful funny and gentle Dutchman. I did not have the pleasure of meeting him here before he passed, but I feel as if I have now. I will be exploring his gallery further. Thank you for sharing your own kind and sensitive nature along with that of koosie through this amazing tribute.

I hadn't had a chance until tonight to listen to this piece, but it was exactly what I needed to hear; calm and soothing and so very peaceful, to help the out-of-control madness that's swirling around me right now begin to settle into something resembling order out of chaos. I never knew Hans, except from a few of his comments on my own early work, and I wish I had. Can you miss someone you never knew? I think so. Your beautiful music paints a wonderfully intimate portrait of his soul--and your own. Thank you.

Maybe you can send it to me in an email. At any rate, I didn't know him at all, but your portrayal of him gives a very real picture of him.
