god, I honestly thought I'd commented on this. One of the disjunctive things about being offline for a while is that you lose track of those artists who only post occasionally (because it's been several days or more since they last posted). Well, my apologies, though I know I wrote a sitemail with my best wishes for your mom and you, around this time. Your latter posts tell us your mom has been recovering, even though slowly; and I hope she's doing better with each day. As you said in a later upload, old bones heals slowly---I wish her all the best; and you as well, as you help her through this time.
The fractal is remarkable. It does look like a rattle, or some kind of ceremonial thing---something that imitates nature in its structure, and somehow conjures it at the same time. I love the bold combinations of tomato reds with greens---opposites on the color wheel (major contrast). And the typically 'fractal' way that each module is repeated with variations throughout the rattle. The base is big and thick, like a piece of carved ebony. And the surrounding is a dramatic, fiery sky, like this is used in some dusk ritual. And it tilts into the frame, which I also like. Really inventive piece, Barb. And may whatever magic emanates from this rattle move into your mother's healing, to help her get back to normal.
