I love the scene...has a wonderful high fantasy feel.
Only criticism is where the arrow rests. It's hard to see, but does look like it's on the wrong side of the bow stave (unless she was shooting with a thumb ring, Mongolian or Hun style, in which how she gripped the arrow and string would differ).
Rule of thumb, excepting the aforementioned Mongols or Huns, is that the arrow rests on the side of the bow stave as the hand gripping it (in this case, left side of bow), either sitting on a center cut shelf or on the knuckles that the archer would punch with.
I suspect you used the pose that came with the prop and so many of the artists creating bows seem to know nothing about archery. You see the same technical issues with the firearms props.
Excepting that technical detail, I love how the cat appears to be helping her hunt something in the brush "off camera" and the misty background. And the look on her face is utterly priceless.
I completely agree wih you, I have no idea how to handle a blow, but in fantasy everything is allowed - Lol!

Awesome work and I think we all agree that we hope the Cougar is faster than the arrow. I think she is aiming at a rabbit in the grass and the cougar is the spotter : )
