Description
These girls met in the Plaza de Mayo in front of the Casa Rosada (Pink House), the Argentine equivalent of the U.S. White House, to remember the victims of Argentina's Dirty War (Guerra Sucia).
The Dirty War, also known as the 'Process of National Reorganization' was the name used by the Argentine Military Government for a period of State Terrorism in Argentina from roughly 1974 to 1983 during which Military and Security Forces and right-wing death squads in the form of the Argentine Anticommunist Alliance (Triple A) hunted down and killed left-wing guerrillas, political dissidents, and anyone believed to be associated with socialism, that included students, husbands, wives, journalists, parents, sons and daughters. Thousands disappeared during that period and they are being remembered annually.

Somber capture, Sig! as well as all should remember those who died unjustly
A lesson for everyone about what happens when a single group, or political idea take over a country. I'm glad these youngsters remember.
Excellent shot of these rememberers..
are they going to investigate the role of the cia too?
It must be appalling to be a relation of one of the 'Disappeared'.
I don't know if the CIA was involved in any of this, or if they were, to what extend!
Nice capture of this important memorial.
This capture's becoming quite emotional, after reading your invaluable information on those troubled times in Argentina's history. Thank you for sharing.
SUPERLATIVE IMAGE
A beautiful scene. Best to learn and remember these atrocities lest we become doomed to repeat them.
