Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

two great dog shots! The flickr version looks like Fritz is being treated like a pillow; with Rosie falling asleep, totally oblivious to him; and this shot is one of the most beautiful you've taken of your dogs. I love her expression, with one ear up and one down. A lot of people forget that dogs, for all their domesticated ease, still have deep survival instincts; and their ears are one of their first lines of defense against intruders, attackers, etc. They maneuver ears like huge antennae, combing the area around them without thinking. Along with their incredibly fine-tuned sense of smell, they have a whole police force going...So when Rosie has one ear up, she's on 'alert'. In addition, you've composed this beautifully against that wonderful fabric; with black behind, to set it all off. (And her deep-green collar is another terrific accent.) A terrific portrait, I love it. Another addition to your amazing collection of dog shots...

Rosie seems to have SUCH personality! They all do, of course, but I adore her face. What a lovely portrait of your girl!

Rosie looks as if she has just been awarded the Order of the Garter or something. She even has two medals hanging from her ribbon. Possibly the cutest recipient in British history. A terrific capture of the little lady.
