Description
This image (done with the Kids4) was inspired by "The Little Match Girl" (Danish: Den Lille Pige med Svovlstikkerne,
meaning "The little girl with the matchsticks")!
Got also the idea from the last upload form dear Ines!
It's a short story by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen.
The story, about a dying child's dreams and hope, was first published in 1845 and
it has been adapted to various media, including animated film and a television musical.

A very sad scene and child, love her pose and expression!
poignant, and very sensitively done. The girl is portrayed with innocence, but without the kind of 'fake' innocence that such images sometimes portray. This is real. Beautiful work on her face, with lots of shadow around her piercing eyes. (Eyes piercing out of the darkness.) And your usual fine attention to detail in her clothes and hair. The bicycle and rat are beautifully placed (on either side of the image), and the buildings are beautifully angled, filled with looming walls, making the girl feel like the only human oasis in this rainy dark city. Very sensitively done, Ute, and right for the holiday...so no one forgets the many people who have little, while everyone is preparing for gifts and gatherings...beautiful work.

This is a very powerful and moving image, Ute. In addition to being a wonderful interpretation of the story, it reflects an all too common and very sad circumstance that seems to be increasing in our cities. Superbly done!

Ute, Du bist Spitze...I thought of Hans Andersen's Little Match Girl the moment I saw this (without reading your comments yet). Really like the glow of the lights here. The expression on the little girl's face is priceless as well. Did you use something like this item from DAZ 3D to achieve the teardrop effect?
I'd bring her in and throw a thick, warm blanket around her before offering her a large peanut butter sandwich and a mug of hot chocolate. There's just so much unhappiness in this world; let's do what we can to get rid of at least some of it...
