Now this is my kind of picture. The almost monochromatic color really enhances the feeling of cold and winter. Take away the buildings and we could be looking at someplace in the artic. Or is this some dystopian vision of the future?
Such a beautiful capture of this amazing ice with the sun really bringing it to life. I am so glad you wrapped up well and went in search of such beauty for us all to see.

Ah, here we see the same scene as before, but now the snow has lost some of it's hold and the land beneath has emerged. It no longer has the alien feel to it, but instead more of a promise from Gaia that the earth will return when her winter sleep is done.

It is amazing how mother nature is creating a lava feeling with ice too. I see what you mean and I so love how the sun is shining in the slippery ice. I love the little space where the birds could still dive and rest in the water, between the two ice areas. And then your beautiful cityscape in the background. Love this shot, Mark :)
