So Sad. Very well done image that conveys the heartbreak of the situation.

Nooooo! What a horrible thing to happen, especially at Christmas. This is the start of a great scene, but there's too much clutter and lack of definition in the primary subjects getting between us and your story. My suggestions:

1. Simplify the window: the panes are making it too hard to see the couple embracing (under the mistletoe? I can't be sure).
2. We need more definition on the guy outside. Right now he is blending into the shadows too much. Consider any of the following:

• Add some kind of outdoor light on the sidewalk or in the front yard.
• Use it to keylight the man, so you illuminate head, shoulders, arm, etc. This will pull him out of the shadows, particularly his upper body.
• Or increase the porch light. Again, the biggest problem is that he is not clearly defined.
• If you illuminate him properly along his edges, then you will probably want to move the tree to the left and darken the window to our left. Right now there are too many elements vying for our attention: this is one time when simpler will tell the story better.
• One thing that might help with the story is to make sure that his left arm is all the way down at his side with his hand wide open (to show that he's in shock and dropped the gift).
• We need more light on the fallen gift, and maybe something of a brighter color?

Anyway, just thinking out loud at the end, there. Great start!

Night time scenes are notoriously hard to get right and you do indeed have a few slight issues with the lighting, but the idea is really good and is conveyed well. Certainly a sad scene but also part of life. Great concept!

Very nice work... But sadly moment... But - it's christmas time... As happen sometimes wonder wishes come true. Maybe he meets still his christmas angel?
