Description
This is me attempting to render something in Daz Studio--the program is pretty nice now, but I have NO CLUE what I am doing in it so my renders are ...really basic. Like as in preset lights, one outfit and two hair models...and the glorious Roxanne by gypsyangel, in development (but soon to be released at Daz). Just imagine how great she will look for people who know what they are doing in Daz! And since My Daz Library is pretty much a wasteland, I just pulled her into ArtRage after I did her render and did some splats behind her.
In case you are wondering about Art Rage, I love it--but it is the Insanity Wolf of painting programs. Here's the difference between having a file in progress in Photoshop and in ArtRage:
Photoshop; "I have a template for that"
Art Rage: "Hold my beer"

She looks good. DAZ definitely has improved a lot over time. Well the only way to learn is doing RnD with all the settings and rendering to see how things change. Happy rendering.

And we do this to ourselves because???? I mean try to re-invent the wheel by trying to understand DAZ.... I'm too old to start doing it all over again just because that's where the merchants make their money on cheap imitations and repetitious packs. But... I likes your first though
I'll be honest, if I hadn't wanted to render Laura's girls I never would have bothered--but it actually feels like a professional program now. IMO it's not quite as stable as Poser and I feel like I have gone back to the stone age in understanding how the lights work, but things like fitting clothes and applying some textures is easier than Poser. I can't use Iray because I have a Costco machine and a basic card, but I suspect that would improve renders a lot. And well...G3 is gorgeous. Drop dead gorgeous and she bends without breaking. I suspect she is a scan of a real person--remember how great v3 was because they scanned that model, Anne-Marie something? V3's head was really excellent. G3s head is really excellent--and so are her elbows and knees. The hardest part for me so far is just finding where things are, like the "blink" slider :D It's way more fun than I thought it would be, though.

I think you're doing awesome! Pay no attention to Deane. He's going to be stuck working on that crusty old V4 model long after everyone has abandoned her for better models. It's not like Smith Micro is ever going to put out a decent model...And with the advances in iray, there's no reason not to learn the latest and greatest out there. Last poser upgrade was positively laughable. I hated 2014, and this new one was a joke. For me, DAZ was a no brainer...

This is very impressive. You are a fine artist and I suspect that if you used a stick in the dirt it would still be impressive. Your character and lighting are very nice. More impressive because this isn't done in IRAY. IRAY is certainly a very good render engine for that true light bouncing but like all the true light render engines it is comparatively slow. Certainly your skills with the pen and tablet will keep your art cutting edge, Keep it up with DAZ and that part will get easier.

With DAZ Studio, the more you practice, the better you get in terms of rendering. It is an easy program, less complicated than Poser (I think). Love your lighting, a really good one for a beginner.
