Description
My brother was in the National Guard and swears this is a true story about one of their week long training sessions. His version was much more colorful and elaborate. The names have been changed to protect the innocent - and because I can't remember the real ones.
Abe and four of his friends shared a tent in a camp set up for their yearly week-long National Guard training. They started at sun up and went late into the evenings so sleep was essential. Unfortunately Ed snored like a buzz saw on steroids. They tried waking him up, turning him over, moving themselves to the other end of the tent, but nothing worked. He snored through it all.
By the second night, they were getting desperate.
"I can't take this much longer," Darren said.
"We've got to do something and soon if we're ever going to get any sleep," came from Bob.
"Enough! Let's haul his sorry carcass out of here," Abe exclaimed.
So the four of them each grabbed a corner of Ed's cot and tromped out of the tent and into the woods. When they had gone about 500 yards, they sat the cot down and stumbled their way in the dark back to the tent and fell peacefully to sleep.
About 5:30 the next morning they heard a blood curdling scream then a string of curse words that would have made a sailor blush.
"Why is he screaming like a girl?" Bob asked.
Charlie grinned and never even opened his eyes as he replied, "I covered him with cedar branches after you left."

Haaa! This is SO funny! I've camped out many times in the scouts and have had, and seen, some experiences. It's very believable. And thanks for the great illustrations of the story. Keep up the good work! :-)

Lol. My brother had a story from his college days about a similar situation - they moved one person's roommate (in his bed) up into the school's bell-tower while he was snoring away. What a rude awakening that must have been!
