I saw something very similar just the other day; I think your lake and my ocean are sharing secrets!!
I love the color of the water. This image is almost allegorical in nature. That somewhat threatening orange sky and ominous cloud give way to a bluer sky as the sun breaks through complete with God rays. More than just a simple shot.

Beautiful image-you were in the right place at the right time, a special moment that lasts only a few seconds or minutes before the scene changes completely in light and atmosphere. But you were there and captured it very nicely, Mark.

Every day in Chicago appears to give a photographer new opportunities. My eye is drawn to the mail-slot in the lower right half of the heavy cloud...looks like an exhaust port of some hovering giant space ship... Well that's my imagination running away with the scene:) Like it!

LOL at Denise's comment. The image reminds me of Kate Smith singing,"When the moon comes over the mountain." Wonderful contrasts inherent in this memorable pic, Mark, what with the four various layers of texture, light and darkness.
