(To some of the comments below: The red is from the plants which are red all year.
And the creepy forms are from water splashing, then freezing, then splashing, then freezing.
This lake goes bonkers in winter. It puts on a show!)

I agree with all the previous comments - these are amazing natural forms & you've captured them superbly. Who would have thought that Chicago (which is a city I've visited & admired for other reasons in the distant past) was home to such surreal & wondrous things?
Diluted blood red water with fangs, plus the surrounding frozen foliage, as chillingly presented in this beautiful image, Mark. The low lighting adds to the spookiness. An excellent posting in observance of Halloween, Mark. Wow, I am I behind in comments, mostly due to so many medical appointments and limited time on the computer. Wonderful pic!
Ice? If you'd told me it was some sort of goblin slime I would have believed you. It has such an unctuous quality about it. And it seems sneaky, in a whiny, obsequious sort of way. Maybe that slime look is what has everybody creeped out. It's sort of got ME creeped out! LOL!
