Description
Bodie was watching something in the rose garden and it was this beetle. I picked it up as it was trying to mate with an acorn and placed in a container with screws. it must have thought it had a hold of a twig and stayed attached while I took pictures. I seldom see any like this here, mostly the brown which I kill.this one was so beautiful, I decided to let it fly away.

Good close up of this insect.
Ewww.... I always hated June Bugs. They and those brown ones you mentioned fly right in your face - eeek! But you got a great closeup of this fellow and his impressively colored shell.
very nice
It's a very interesting macro, Richard, and I love that green colour on it. So great you let it fly away.
Beautiful iridescence.
great macro work,we have them here and they are a pest ,there are millions, out of control and cause many damage to lawn and plants
Nice macro here :)
Great closeups!
Trying to mate with an acorn?? LOL There's something strangely appropriate about him winding up in a box of screws... :-D
Great shot of the big ol' Japanese beetle, Richard! We get these here quite a bit. Just leave the porch light on for a while.... :-D
Great macro....
