A bold rainbow-colored parrotfish swimming in a sea of bubbles, pays tribute to the intuitive, giving, and flowing spirit and natural, other-world beauty of the fish, and all water creatures. This is a mixed medium work, combining watercolor and digital painting and techniques.

ok, i looked this up, and parrotfish were so named because of their teeth---apparently their teeth create a beak-like mouth which reminded biologists of the parrot beak. I have to say, I haven't spent a lot of time studying fish teeth, but it sure makes for a surprising fish name. In any case, it's another ground upon which you build a continuing theme here, of learning how to take in everything around us, in serenity and joy, by viewing how these sea creatures slowly move through life and tranquilly taking in all that's around them.
The watercolor is touchable here, and you've made luminous color combinations and textures. The fish has streamers of reds and oranges and blues, etc, pouring down its torso. Like colored hair. The strokes are thick, even where they're thin. The sky above the fish is a playground of cellular structures and geological forms. Really fascinating patterns up there. And they continue through the water, even as they open up and are immersed in a deep blue. You have bubbles here---one chain of them is coming from the p.fish's mouth---which are glassy and buoyant, and have very nice highlights. They are like marbles too. And the fish, at bottom, quietly crosses our field of vision, unperturbed by our presence, all calm, serene. The deep blues around the fish help set it off---you use hues very expressively of course...and the fish is like a light lighting up the deeper portions of the sea. And you have the rainbow here too, spread out across the image. More beauty from the deep from you, with that theme of absorbing and exuding tranquility. Another beautiful image from you...
Thanks so much for your lovely comment, Mark. I have been quite fascinated with fish lately, and rainbows, too. The colors excite me. And their slow journey, as they move with the flow of life, inspires me to be more aware of what is around me, of what I can see and what I can't always see. The patterns above were a suggestion of the other world, the one above the sea, the one the fish doesn't live in and yet it is very much there and part of the fish's life. I've also been in a bubble mood lately, don't know why but those round orbs that capture a rainbow within them just fascinate me. They are so momentary in their existence and yet so memorable.
