Description
This is just a smidgeon of the Palouse, a 4,000 square mile area of rich, exceedingly hilly farmland in the states of Washington and Idaho.
In May and June all this land is green and growing. Now in September, after the wheat harvest, all is in shades of gold and brown.
Zoom worthy.
A polarizing lens would have been a big help here...fires to the north contributed a haze apparent in the late afternoon.

Fantastic countryside Bill.
Still an amazing capture even without a polarizing filter. God bless.
A fantastic shot of this desert looking place. I know why it looks like that by Taras upload :)
Great. I agree that it does resemble a desert.
Lovely landscape, Bill, and hope none of the forest fires come anywhere near you and Tara!
Breathtaking photo, Bill - I can almost smell the smoke from here!
stunning landscape. I visited the National Museum of cars in Reno last Monday. it was awesome
Those patterns are amazing. Although I got tired of driving around and shooting hundreds of pictures, I never got tired of looking at those hills. Beautiful!
Glorious! It has been great to see first Mark's green photos, then Tara's brown one and now this totally different take on the same landscape.
Looks like a watercolor Bill! Even the burnt patches fits into the "big picture". Lovely!
Love the view... Aloha
That is a great landscape!! x
A fine undulating abstract, Bill. I would have been unable to resist pumping up the color intensity...
Breathtaking!
excellent
Yeah, whatever happened to your polarizer filter??? The haze is apparent in this scene. Otherwise, fine effects and good depth in this shot, Bill.
Different from June but still spectacular. Great contrast image in light and dark.
Absolutely gorgeous once again !!!
Stunning scene....
Great capture
