Description
this will be my home for the next 10 days (Sept 11 to Sept 20)! My friend, John and I will be up in the Wind River area Hunting Elk!
I will have my camera(s) with me as always So I will be posting some hopefully cool photos when I get back. Due to changes in the start of the season, we should be able to be a bit more successful this time around.
Monday (Labor Day) John, his grandson Jake, and I went out to sight in their rifles and I went to make some noise - I finally fired off the 9mm, the 410 shotgun, 22 rifle and my old toy Remington Arms 221 Fireball (XP100) bolt action single shot pistol . they sighted in in two shots, me? I had fun firing off a bunch of rounds and making noise. I've got some pie tins that have been converted as it were (they're a bit religious aka holey). then we went hiking about a half mile to the fishing area. I had 35 to 40 pounds on my back and I hardly lost my breath both ways. In fact, John trusted me so much that I lead the group back to the truck. I felt pretty good about that. (I'm learning trail craft).
In other words, I'm gonna be gone for a while and I wish you all the best. I promise to return with great tales of my adventures. (it's almost 19 minutes to midnight and I'm still trying to get ready to leave at about 1400 hours (2pm) to set up our camp.

I love your home away from home Mike. I'm about to buy myself a tent too to go camp in the desert. I'm looking at the Oztrail Mallomoo - it erects itself - so cool!
Looks like a good weathertight tent. What caliber guns will you be using for the Elk hunting? None of the sizes you mentioned would usually be used for hunting that large an animal around here. I hope you have a grand time and get lots of wonderful pictures.

It's been a loooong time since I've done any 'noise-making' of that sort. I have a Thompson Contender I haven't fired in years... I have a .221 Fireball barrel for it along with 2 14" bull barrels - one in .44 magnum, and the other in .35 Remington.
