"Not just now, darling, I'm having a snack.."
This predatory wasp attacks Weevils.
The adult takes it's prey back to the nest where it will provide food for the developing young. These are more commonly known as Digger Wasps.
I hope she will be collecting Vine Weevils, I can well do without those !

I just googled 'Wine Veevils'.........seriously!
Wow! A superb shot and find! Could you gid up the grubs and send some to eat my vine weevils too!
I had my spade upside down!
Fantastic pic
:o))))) Excellent photo.
Caught in the act - superb detail...
Love is in the air... er, well, maybe on a flower in this case - but it's definately there. Be careful, or you mght get flagged for not using a Content Advisory thumbnail. Lol.
Little Timmy sees two dogs mating and asks his grandfather what they are doing. The grandfather is taken aback by the boy's question and blurts out, "Well, Timmy, the dog in the back has injured it's leg and the dog in front is carrying his friend home." I notice the male wasp is a good deal smaller than the female so when she says 'no' I guess its 'no'. This is an outstanding image. You have an amazing ability to capture insects in the act. Superb work.
This is a fantastic capture Andrea and it sounds like they do a lot of good. Lucky you to find this pair and caught in the act !!
Excellent! It's always a plus when you get them together, too.
Now that's team work ! Awesome pic. of them in action Andrea. Zoom is a must, indeed.
A great photo and story to tell, Andrea. I'm asking myself if this is an union bloom where they are busy on.
one more for the road
Wonderful shot!
Fascinating capture
Happy hour for wasps :-) Sweet shot, Andrea :)
A super shot of something you don't see every day.
What a fantastic photo Andrea and we have them over here too!
you really should make a book of all the insects you have caught in the act - you could title it, "In-Sex" and I have a feeling that it would sell
LOL @ Mike! That's a great idea. I rarely see insects, let alone insect porn, so your gallery is always a delight! Isn't it funny, how we each see different things? Everyone tells me they never would have seen ... whatever it was I took a picture of ... and I think it's totally ordinary. What fun!
Great shot... in the right place at the right time! Allium, garlic? Whatever, the bloom is beautiful. Always surprised to notice that males are smaller than the females. Well caught.
Awesome capture of that sly devil...:))
