Description
Another beauty from that year, captured back on 10/19/08, at a car show held in beautiful Santa Anita Park in beautiful Arcadia, California.
This one also lacks a bumper, so I know Helle will have something to say about that. I'm not sure why these expensive immaculately customized or renovated autos don't have them. Maybe they look too wimpy. Otherwise, this speedster looks peachy keen.
Have the nicest of days.

cool
A sky-blue beauty, Harry; maybe they want to showcase the lovely lines of the body, sort of like a nude vs. a bikini shot? Just a thought. Excellent capture!!
Delightfully Beautiful Work,
Beautiful shot !!
HA,Yes, I noticed the lack of bumper and now this beautiful blue car seems to be about to sneeze.... AAAA---choooo! They better put a bumper ont it. :) Great capture, btw.
I don't understand the lack of bumpers either; though it does look a little cleaner without them, and I imagine that alone could be a good reason for their disappearance. I do love the color too. Rather a unique shade of blue and not one you're likely too see many of either. Thanks for sharing another wonderful photo from your archives.
One more shot 'out of sequence', and then I'll return to the sequence...Another loving car shot of another wild old beauty. I looked up "car bumper history" and found that the bumper was invented in 1901. (There's a fact that'll get ya far.) And that Europe and America developed bumper requirements that manufacturers had to follow. It looks like American regulations were set in stone in the 70s, so maybe they weren't required back in 1940. But it seems awfully risky---you could mess up that beautiful front very easily, without a fender to absorb the impact of a bump. But---I love this look! It's nude, as Denise said, and lovin' it. And yes, ala Helle, the car looks like it's about to sneeze! Another fine capture in difficult circumstances (ie, cramped space, you can't get the perfect distance if you shoot from any number of angles, people are around, the intruding background, etc.) You softened the background just right, you got a fine angle to show off this beauty, and you captured the powerful blue without upturning the balance. We can see the beautiful front, the engine, and the side in all its glory, with the running boards, the high doors, and those curved enclosure-like windows. A real beauty of a car shot. And we even get the reflections against the inner hood. You know, my grandparents always had 'plastic' on their furniture---slip covers that they never removed: If I owned this car, I'd put slip covers over the front so no one would mess it up! Love what you're doing with these car shots. This is a beauty.
awesome portrait of an ancient Ford in a modern version of great speed monster !!!
