Cool old tree.....
impressive capture
A magnificent tree trunk with a great deal of personality. Nicely found and captured, Harry.
A magnificent specimen of whatever type of tree this is, Harry, and what a cool capture of all the character evident!
Wow! What a nebari ( root flare ) as they say in Bonsai circles!
The subject material is grand---a big coagulation of lava-spill shapes and thick creeping roots. A trunk that takes over the earth. You see these in warm climates, and rarely in chicago or the northern midwest...As a photo, you got a wonderful golden early light, rich in deep yellows. And wonderful shadows that make the rivulets of the tree look like bony hands and fingers: perfect lighting for the shapes. And you either caught or cropped it so you put the lower trunk right in our faces, thus giving it a big massive presence: Fine job! With a mildly faded background filled with sweet light and shadow interplay, and a horizon at a very nice (high) level. A beautiful tree shot, where you've suited your camera and postwork to the very nature of the beast. And the light is beautiful. A grand, sweet shot. (Harry, i realize I haven't fav'd yet! It's not because there weren't any favs for me, it's because I got wound up in commenting and so just forgot. So please know that several of your images would've gotten fav's---including this one. I won't go back and do them now, because I want to do more images today, but know that your whole gallery is a fav for me...)
