Amazing engin and very great shot !!!
Superb capture, Harry; this looks like a wonderful toy to have around! Great for squishing bugs, eh?
These are interesting machines to operate. I had such an opportunity many years ago. The manager where I was working was in need of having someone operate such a machine to compact the side lot prior to our normal parking lot being repaved, and I was fortunate enough to be selected; I was a bit hesitant to do it, yet I appreciated the opportunity. It was a much bigger machine, but I can say when you set it to vibrate, it vibrates everything! Even inside the building, they said you could hear things vibrating on the shelves, and even the floors. Excellent series of photos!
in light of the huge number of eye popping car photos you've posted since this image went up, this photo shows the range of vehicle shots in your gallery. This is another of your dense little monster shots, with an angle showing off the monstrous density of the thing; but with light---a nearly white sky and high key throughout---that somehow "lightens" it. Not an easy vehicle to lighten, to be sure. And your pov shows that truck in the background, which seems to be an extension of the compactor---a really fine juxtaposition. They seem to be friends or relatives. And there's something early-morning-bleary-eyed about this---that's a compliment---it's a compact monster; but, in this light, it feels like it's half asleep; and the light all around it takes some of its massivity away: a very interesting contrast in object and surroundings. Fine work with a difficult subject, and composed well in the frame, as well. I don't think I could get a good capture of this. But as you've shown many times, there's no vehicle too strange, dense or even frightening to sway you from your ever keen eye.
