Your portraits are always so elegant, just like this one. A splendid portrait of a beautiful young woman, GREAT!!! Grs Rudy.
Fantastic image. Great gift for Dave!!!
Pourvu qu'elle soit douce... Il y a un petit air, de la rousse Mylène, qui émane de ta trousse...
Such a beautiful dedication for a great guy! I love the reds in here, Yves, and as always... you've turned the gesture into a pure art. Great work!! :)
Wonderful portrait!!
What a great portrait! Thats very good!

very beautiful
Beautiful work and dedication!!
As I recall, "fauve" originally meant "wild beast". And, of course, it was used by the Fauvist movement because they used such wild, untamed colors, etc. I also remember that Matisse was often associated with the Fauvists. (Although Matisse was transcendent to all categories. Like all great artists, he was a category by himself...) But oh, what a wonderful image you've made. This woman's head is dominant: It takes over much of the image. And her expression is very serious and passionate. (Perhaps like a 'wild beast'.) Wonderful expression with so few lines---her eyes are so simple but so expressive. And you have a wonderful angle too---she looks down, like she's concentrating on something very absorbing. Her hair is a wonderful pale red...almost a peach red. It's a wonderful contrast to your usual deep reds (like the reds you use in lips, and in the deeper red of her gown, here). As you so often do, you articulate her entire neck and shoulder with a few elegant lines. Very expressive lines, very musical...And that garment---just the top of the garment---is a resolute "coda": It ends the portrait of the woman, leaving the rest to your white space. You are a master of minimal technique, while you express maximum presence, character and grace. And this woman---looking down in inner absorption---feels very powerful. Beautiful work, Yves. And created in your usual masterful way with brush, hues, and line. Beautiful. And happy birthday to Dave---one of the kindest, most loving people on RR. (I sent Dave an image, privately.) A beautiful dedi for him, and I wish Dave many more years of joy and inspiration!
