Lots of woodworm and nice textures Andrea.
fascinating !
very good Andrea, wish i had your talent
People are so clever. I will put some carving pics up that I saw at the show on Sunday.
But it is still good for a decoration :-)
You must of been one amazing teacher Andrea. This is a beautiful wood carving ! Sadly time has taken it's toll however the wormholes gives it history. Hoping it will stand for many more years.
This is rather neat. I like it :)
Superb capture Andrea. God bless.
Reminds me of the totems found in the American Northwest, minus the missing bits of course. Perhaps you could take in extra money by inviting Druids in for worship services.
It looks like old native Inuit carving; wonderful!!
A fine piece of art!!
Awesome shot! Love the decay and textures. Almost like a unique fossil find. :)
Yes, with a few above, it does have Pacific Northwest Indian, or Inuit (much further north) Indian feathers. They did heavy stylization with bird-faces. The age actually adds to the feel of it, the holes and mold (I assume) and decay of the wood all feel much at home with this head. I say it's 'wood', but in several sections it looks almost like old bone. (The eyes give away that it's wood.) So age has made it feel even more genuine...And I like the postwork, where you use it, esp on the left wall. (That's fine postwork, making a very active colonized surface.) Full size, this thing's a big ancient totem. Love that you had your students do things like this!
It has not weathered well but I can also appreciate it's size and original structure!
There's still some life in the old bird yet.
