Visited the Wakodahatchee Wetlands this morning and accidently walked right up to this TriColored Heron nest as she was standing up and inspecting her 4 eggs. She was about 26 inches (66 cm) long and with a wingspan of 36 inches (91 cm). The swamp was full of nesting birds so I will get back in there in a few days to see if the checks have hatched. It will zoom!

A nice find.They are lucky that you had a sharp eye and didn't step on the eggs.
They were in a bush about 5 feet (1.5 meters) off the ground (mud).
