Description
Happy Anniversary to Jeff and Julie
Wikipedia says Justicia Brandegeeana (Mexican shrimp plant or shrimp plant) is native to Mexico and also naturalized in Florida. It grows to 3.3 feet (1 meter) tall with spindly limbs. The flowers are white, extending from salmon color bracts which look a bit like a shrimp, hence the shrub's name. White flowers emerge from the bracts; usually they are long and thin. The flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Pollination is usually by hummingbirds. The shrimp plant thrives in the shade in tropical areas. This shrub is expected to last for 10 to 20 years and is also available in golden yellow. Photo taken along our center walkway yesterday. It will zoom.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

A most beautiful photo! I have tried these as house plants but I am no good as an indoor gardener.
Fantastic colors, details and DOF. Excellent shot, a wonderful dedication!
A nice shot Dana, a friend has one of these that has survived outside in the UK ,it's tucked in a very sheltered spot that gets lots of sun.

Beautiful dedication!
My grandfather had a huge bush of these when I was a kid in Southern California; we always called them honeysuckle, and would pull out the stamens and suck the sweet nectar. Probably not the most responsible behaviour, but we didn't know any better back then. I never knew what they were really called. Great capture, Dana!
Beautiful start of flowers! This is a sweet dedication! Have a good day!
Nicely shot in lovely shaded light with a strong background to emphasize the delicate shapes.
beautiful plant and dedi
I am familiar with these plants, (you couldn't really call them flowers ?) - but evergreen shrubs, as you had mentioned, which also look nice as pot-plants ;)) but what a wonderful plant for, this also 'Evergreen couple - Julie & Jeff' - Congratulations to both ! and well done Dana ! BB
I am sure you meant jayfar and not jarfar - LOL !!!
Thank you Brigitte!
What an amazing beautiful photo and flowers, Dana. I does looks (for me although) like a Bougainvillea, but these flowers are more intriguing, and such very special. It's lovely also that you knew about Jeff and Julie, what a wonderful gift for our friends.
Oh, I guess I've seen this plant here as a house plant, but only in a warm and bright place, a winter garden-'house'. :)
Really lovely flowers (we dont have those here)
