Description
Captured 2/26/10, within the confines of my usually congenial condominium complex.
This time, rather than shoot a cone at its origin, such as under a tree as I normally do, I took it home and set it on the bright pavement at the most advantageous angle for the best shadow and contrast. Okay, I cheated, but the results were worth it.
Ciao.

wonderful game of light on this cone, with an excellent texture of the ground !!!
Love the shadows on display here, Harry.
Fantastic capture my friend !!!
Wonderful pinecone shadow, you picked a great spot to place it, with that beautifully textured ground beneath. Well done Harry!
It's not cheating, it's creative composition. Nicely done...
This Shadow is Cool !!!
ditto, Claude---it's not cheating, it's creative composition. Studio work, only outside. A variation on your wonderful glass and eyeglass shadow series. This is so stark! Such heavy white/grays, and the cone is almost standing upright against a wall---there are no shadows on the left, making it seem totally disconnected. Then the shadows loom on the right, and they're so deep and blue; and they stretch out like a big insect. A wonderful contrast between cone and its shadow. ("Life is but a walking shadow..." Macbeth.) And the surrounding is this bleached moon-rock gray surface, so desolate. With pock marks, like the surface of another planet seen from high in the atmosphere. A terrific job (with yet another older pic). Among your best light-shadow pieces, which is saying a lot. (Harry I'm at 75 minutes, and I have to stop now. But I did 9 shots this time, not too bad, for my usual slow pace. It isn't easy to skip around, as there's so much more to comment on. But I've seen them all, and it's great to comment once more. I'll be back soon. Great work as always. And such variety. So many worlds in your gallery...)
