Description
This beautiful endangered species of butterfly hangs on for dear life, captured back on 5/3/07, inside the Pavilion of Wings, a temporary adjunct to the beautiful Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles, California.
Most people can step out into their backyard and find butterflies. Since I live in a mostly insect-free area (ants only and an occasional arachnid), I had to drive 22 miles and then pay parking and admission just to go in and snap photos of these beautiful creatures. Also, due to the popularity of the exhibit, time within the compound was limited to no more than forty-five minutes, so, just like photographing eyeglasses and their shadows, I had to work at a rapid pace.
Adios, amigos.

What a perfect shot of this stunning beauty, Harry; I never see this type around, usually just tiger swallowtails and common whites.
Really gorgeous photo, Harry. These little butterflies look like they have wings of stained glass :)
Beautiful photo of a stunning butterfly! Unfortunately, we don't get to see these as often as we used to - some summers, we don't see any at all. Great work!
Fantastic details and colors. Excellent shot of this beautiful butterfly. Such is not found here in Germany, but I have read that they sometimes fly from America to the south of Spain and the Canary Islands.
These butterfly shots are outstanding mate, very well done. Rob
