Description
A present from my new student lodger, Hanyu, who is studying Digital Effects at BU. It was very kind of him and I am very touched by the thought.
It is a tradition at Chinese New Year to give these red envelopes containing money.
You can read all about it here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_envelope.
The front has a portrait of Mao Zedong,
while a picture of the Great Hall of the People is printed on the reverse.

Superb capture Andrea. I do love the colour contrast. God bless.
so kind of him; lovely photo
That is a very nice gift, nice shots too. Clearly you have very kind and creative lodgers.
How respectful and gracious of Hanyu ! What a honor Andrea ~ Thanks for sharing the beautiful photo and interesting information.
A lovely thought and a splendid image.
How lovely & interesting!!
What a beautifully marked envelope and a striking note too! I bet you will treasure it!
Oh, very cool!
When you mentioned an envelope I thought you might be referring to the Oscars which are on Sunday. This is much better. The Chinese have a wonderful sense of design, even in something as simple as an envelope. A wonderful gift from your tenant, a little over ten pounds.
Yeah we make a big fuss of it at the school where I work. Everyone comes to school dressed in red! We have a sister school in China that grade 6 students visit each year.
he is very thoughtful. cool looking
Awesome capture and this was nice of him.
He honors and respects you greatly Very nice
An interesting tradition for the Chinese New Year. That must be why I saw the dragons the other day.
I like both views of your "New Years" gift but also a spectacular envelope!
