Description

"Well, yeah, the idea is pretty simple. You sit quite safely in the cabin in the manned craft atop the booster. We ignite the 375,000 pound thrust engine and basically it blows you off the launch pad into the upper atmosphere. Nothing to worry about. It's perfectly safe! The Fuerher would never sign off on any plan that wasn't 100% foolproof now would he?" "OK." One of these alternate history goofs after checking out some of Werner Von Braun's space dreams and wish lists. The model is the A-9/A-10 rocket concept with booster from the fascinating Projekt Amerika ideas and tantalizing drawings from the end of the war. Technically, this manned model was to be launched and guided to Manhattan or D.C. to deliver a personal message from Herr H to the US of A. Another chilling reminder of what might have happened if Hitler's plans had time to materialize. In this version, the rocket contains cargo intended for Von Braun's space station dream. A-9/10 Amerika Rocket: Cool and nicely crafted model by Joe G. free at Sketchup with a bit of texture addition. (He did a number of these could have been or short lived German projects. Anxious pilot: Test pilot by Max Greuter free at the above. Bold face liar with arms folded: Somewhere free in the murky past. Launch pad and tower: Beautifully detailed model by ranman38 (launch complex 39) available at ontarget3d, modified for this fiasco. Cinema4CE+XL, Poser7, Vue6Infinite, Ps Cs3

Scary stuff when you really look into it....a good job Adolph wasn't the patient type. If he'd given everyone the extra 2 or 3 years to prepare for war....well it doesn't bare thinking about. Very cool 'could have been' image.

Nice idea. It remembers me on the art work of the weekly science fiction pulp magazines 30 years ago... :-) Well made.
