Description
*Oh, thou! in Hellas deemed of heavenly birth,
Muse! formed or fabled at the Minstrel's will!
Since shamed full oft by later lyres on earth,
Mine dares nor call thee from thy sacred Hill:
Yet there I've wandered by thy vaunted rill.*
(G.G.Byron, from "Childe Harold")

This time (usual mixed technique of mine.. with adding of the slightly filtering in Painter to equalize the structure) I tried to focuse on the water.. (In Flowers and Sky the Sky was bad, so in Empty Beach focuse on that, but left the water not that carefully made.. so this time I have decided especially to work on that... Next time? Probably against sky since this one... :P).
It took me.. well, you see from the sketch, almost two months to colour this, and again is just a memory of my holidays, this year deeply linked with will of painting after many many years. I think it's merit of this community, so in a way, this is an homage to all here who have given me great vibes so far :)
Enjoy and thanx :)

I love it Gallimel, you can almost smell the sea breeze. The water is exquisite. Thank you for sharing it with us :D
You are really good with colours... But your sketch leaves me much more freedom for my imagination for the scenery.
ya never content yourself dear, don't you? ;) I am actuaqlly also often preferring the sketches.. but I have also to train myself with colours so.. here it comes :) (ta much to CF above.. it took me one month as you know now for that water :)!! Good if it turned out even remotedly good :))
This is fantastic Meli! It has such an amazing timeless quality to it... like it could have been from last week, or 1968 even. So well done, I wish I was there ;P
very nice work:)
beatiful painting! very romantic mood and wonderful colour-palette
... that's an excellent water !very good work. outch! It's very hot here ... :D
Very Nice composition Gallimel, your style of painting is really expressive! Great image :~)
the colours are coming from my wonderful 100 oil pencils folder I bought in Switzerland :) Caran D'Ache is always the best for all real colours :) Try you all, it's a great thing ...:) Thank you SO much to all whom are enjoying my message of peace and serenity :)
That is such a wonderfull Picture Meli, well worth the time taken on it :) The transition between the coast and the water looks so good especialy. :)
Sun has brought out the inhabitants! The waves rise and fall to give life to the water as they run.
Stunning, with incredible atttention to detail and such wonderful textures of paint. Excellent work...
amazing work - that water is sweet!
I love it, I can't find the words: the original, near my home, isn't so beautiful to watch than your painting!! :-)
Excellent work Meli. Great work on the color, depth design and detail. The overall composition is masterfully done. The last sketch I did took me a month to complete, so I know how long it can take to really work on something to get it right. Jason would tell you that working on an image 3 to 6 months is not unusual. So, I applaud you attention to detail and the time you were willing to put into it.
I deeply thank you all for takin time to comment this nicely under this one :) You're right Cheryl.. the great time spent sometimes makes the difference, I think especially in paintings of landscapes :) Thank you all :) sniff :) Luv Ya :)
SO beautiful and lovely... Oh, Meli, what can we add by reading all this wonderful comments??? - - We are speechless about the way you do this... we can hear the waves and smell the air... gorgeous artwork, friend, and we love it SO much!! - Thanks a lot... mannyyyyy hugs :-)))))

chhers back to you dear :) and to my dearest couple on the artwork net and to Ulysses :) I still happy all you like this one :) Hugs hugs :)
I don't know what to add!!! I love it too, the water is great, specially at the border we can see trough it. The people too, so small and so right, I am impressed. Big hug:))
In my opinion it is a quite good pice. the only real disturbing thing here are the trees, they could need some more depth. the water is excellent. I wish I could have such a fun painting such (and now comes something that is only my personal opinion and no way an objective valuation of this at least technicaly very good pice) a boring picture. I would need it for my classes at the academy. have to paint some landscapes and so on - but I fail terribly. so I am really kind of envy :) you are very skilled, maybe you will try to paint something more dramatic? something with an impact on the viewer, something that let the audience tremble and weaken them up? this one is quite nice, but nothing anyone would remember for a long time (in my opinion)- and this is definitly not the lack of skill :)
just cool :)
Very peaceful painting thank you for posting it, I love it.I guess it can get boring if you can't get yourself to go into it in your imagination. A painting is done with the artists heart and soul, if the spectator sees this he will feel it.
Don't worry anyone for ElPollo's words: I respect a lot what he thinks, and I am actually amazed he has commented THIS kind of picture. I think uneasily I will get into drama painting. to me.. painting landscapes is like a joga session: I feel empathic with the highest beauty we are in.. the one of Nature. that's why to me it's not boring, but essential. I know what works for me cannot work for everyone. but the fact anyway all here appreciated anyway something in this paint, whatever that was, technique or feeling or celebratory feeling, makes me feel good :). But I promise ElPollo that if eventually I'll ever paint drama.. I'll dedicate that to him ;)I deep appreciate your honesty man:)
To me this is a strange one, with a lot of depth. It's the blurring on selective areas, particularly that of the sky. It's as though all the normal rules of physics that govern "depth of field" have been ignored, and the picture is all the more surreal for this. For me this is what adds interest to such a tranquil boring subject. This kind of Impressionism is dreamlike: when I am in a lucid dream and then lose control and wake up, this is what happens. The picture fragments, fades to dark, then my real eyes open. I know I'm almost certainly picking up on something you won't have intended, but this is just what makes people's differing interpretations so fascinating :)
magnificent! Loke the vivid colors combinations that make the composition so expressive!
Wow i'm missing all this good stuff !!!! really excellent work Meli........amazing what you can do from a simple sketch book. Well worth the effort since your vacation
I'm gasping at my screen. This is so beautiful! You are extremely talented! What lucky we are you share this with us!
