Description
I captured this fellow in the Kgalagadi. It was a very hot day and he was lying in the shade. I found it very difficult to balance the light with him being in the shade and the harsh and very bright desert light behind him. Thought the photo was a right-off until I decided to go highkey - and I liked the result!

Outstanding capture very interesting animal
A beautiful picture Carin. Every Jackal has its day !!
Wonderful! High key works perfectly!
Lovely pic, he does look hot. Xx
Very good capture!
What a pisser those kind of lighting situations are eh? Still I have a philosophy. NEVER right an image off until you have played around with it a bit, if it still looks like crap after, then you bin it, this is sharp, so deserves its place Carin! Camera meters will never get it right. 18% grey is 100% whacky!
WONDERFUL WORK
was it worth and looks great👍
Outstanding post work Carin. God bless.
I am always impressed by the variety of animals you are able to photograph. The result here shows how wild animals truly can blend into the landscape. Thanks for sharing the capture.
So beautifully done, Carin. And a beautiful animal too.
There is something so graceful about animals, you never get tired watching them!
I like this very much indeed! Beautiful "save" and an excellent portrait!
Great capture! I like the highkey too!
Love the photo but those teeth scare me in zoom!
