Description

Here you see the statue of Loreley. The shot was taken from a very long distance. If you are interested to know more about her, click here The light wasnt with us, when photographing her and it was too far away to get a really goodt shot. I still found it all amazingly beautiful and interesting. Thanks for the visit -)

A legend says: The Loreley was a mermaid, who was sitting on the rock, combing her golden hair and she was singing. The boatmen were attracted by the singing and stayed no longer on the course despite the dangerous flow, so that the ships were wrecked at the cliffs. A fantastic shot.

Thanks for posting this. And for helping me regain some of my lost mythology. I remember riding the TEE train along the Rhine in 1969 with a German banker on his way to a Common Market meeting. He told me the story and sang the song for me. A very amicable meeting, indeed! :-)

Hi Helle, I am posting one comment for all 4 of the photos from today. I am very impressed by the awesome photos you got from a distance and while on the boat. The town, the castle and the statue are all very well captured. I really love that you are sharing this gorgeous journey you went on with all of us.
