Description
These 2 lions greeted each other like brothers. They started grooming each others manes and rubbing together affectionately! One had a deed wound in it's face from a swipe of claws. Male lions all seem to have scarred faces though. The mane gives such good protection in a fight, they go for the vulnerable face of an opponent.

A lion expert told my after giving a talk to the public. She asked "any questions?". She was asked by a lady " How long does it take to brush the lion's manes"!!

A super greeting and I would think that no-one ever got to finish brushing a main!!
What a dumb question to ask? The licking is probably purely because it is blood? But animals do have the strangest ways of social behaviour . My terrier Jazz can lead by example, when i come in he nips to greet, as a keyboard/pianist, I have to be really quick at getting my hands high enough to evade the teeth, and yet after all this, he loves me and is a very faithful little chap?
They probably are brothers, or at least raised together. As far as brushing the manes, they should have given her a brush and let her find out! Fantastic shot of these big cats!
