Description
What does the future hold as modern man crosses the threshold into a new year? Will it be as many foretell -- that he will be compelled to leave behind a world defined by science and technology, and return to a premodern world closer to nature and to the ancient/medieval past? Does the barbarian minstrel present a 'future' mirror image for the man in the cybersuit?
When I started working on this scene I was at first just inspired by the idea of a close encounter between futuristic and ancient/medieval man, which I thought was kinda fun. But later when I finished the render I thought more about it and came up with a slightly different story to fit this image into. :)

Brilliant image, it has caused me to stop and think. Which of the two figures is looking into the future? Or are they both looking into the future? Everything in the universe around us operates in cycles, yet we humans cling to our linear though processes. Past, present and future are all merely positions on the circle and they are only relevant to each other, not the outside observer. Thank you for sharing this though provoking image.
Think about the thousands of endings that this meeting could end with. I also agree with "jdstrider's" thought - which one is in the future and which is in the past? A super image KT and very thought provoking!
