Description
A small crop from a distant image of these adorable birds. They are insect eaters all spring/summer/autumn. Then they switch their diet completely and live on seeds from the reed heads! They can only do that with the aid of grit which helps them grind up and digest the seed. The grit is provided by the nature reserve here on trays. So they visit these trays daily much to the delight of nature lovers. Otherwise they spend there day in the miles of reed beds and are rarely seen.
I forgot to take my big lens on this day!! I was so mad with myself for not checking my camera bag before I left home.
