Description
I don't usually do dedications, but this one's for Mark (anahata.c) who seems to particularly enjoy this flavor of image. I am astounded by the amount of time he has spent viewing & commenting profusely on my photo gallery (& I know he spends as much time on many other galleries as well). His comments are always precise & thoughtful & he has a generosity of spirit that is sincere & rare - a true bodhisattva, if I'm qualified to judge.
This was taken on the porch of the pond house at Pacifica. With 500 acres of beautiful land to take care of, the residents can be forgiven for not keeping up with maintaining the exterior of this house...

Fabulous colors, composition, contrast, patterns and texture in this abstract. Reminds me of pixelating on the bottom half.

interesting capture; wonderful compositionand textures
An absolutely super image, super subject and wonderful textures.
Wow...I got the ebot for this late (just woke up), as every so often ebots pile in late even after others come on time. (I would have seen it regardless, as I always check your gallery.) And then, I pulled out my shoulder last night---my doing---so I'm writing this while screaming at my shoulder to shut up (and it's saying, "dream on...") But there was no way I was waiting on this. First, the image is beautiful, and yes I go ape over these types of images in your gallery, but then I love over your gallery period. But before I say more, Claude thank you so much for your beautiful words, I am truly honored; and while I'm very grateful for the term bodhisattva, I think of myself more like the guy running behind, trying to catch up while dropping everything along the way (and picking it up and saying, "wait---I'm coming---"). Thank you so much. Like I've said to you before, your work 'makes' the comments, and my only regret is that it takes me so long to write them, I don't get to comment on everything. But I love this gallery, and I'm very touched by your kindness and by associating this gem of an image with me. As for the image, it's a big in-your-face evocation of decay and aged space, and you heighten it with such bold yellows, I mean in-your-face yellows which makes the darker peeled areas like a big continent in a sea of yellow. The detail is terrific. And atop it all, an old lantern, aged and cracked---whether cracked from age or just "crackled" glass to begin with)---and its shadow. It's a haiku on top of a longer lyric poem, and it's grand. You work these images so that all is in harmony, and yet everything stands out individually as well. And it's perfectly cropped (vertical crop fits the lantern perfectly), and with a slap-in-the-face yellow that makes one think this was set aside by the gods to be a work of art. Terrific. And thank you so much for your very kind words, I am truly honored.
Excellent textures and shadow
I know what Mark means about your gallery, your work has a flavour and intense beauty all its own; this shot shows it off to the hilt. I love that you let the colour be the star here, with the little lamp sort of like a beauty mark, just to accentuate the beauty of the expanse of crackled and peeling yellow paint. So much texture is absolutely stunning! What a perfect shot!
Superb! Very nice textures, shadows, and the yellow tones are terrific! Very artistic work! M.
This really is one of your best of this "flavor." Terrific colors and composition, and the shadow of the lamp gives it extra depth and interest. SO beautifully done! Just right for Mark, and your dedication is thoughtful and beautiful.
Mark is a master of comments and currently flying on one wing! A beautiful still life and shadow. A good coat of paint and all would be as it should be!
