Description
A long distance telephoto shot, captured back on 4/21/2010, of a local TV station helicopter hovering over our local I-5 Freeway, recording a probable vehicle crash or other major snag in the traffic flow below. Considering this was snapped with a hand-held point-and-shoot camera, I'm surprised it came out this sharp. Love those blurred rotor blades.
Have a nice day.

Excellent work, Harry; I've tried this, but by the time I focus they've moved on. And getting that prop blur is a bonus! Great shooting!
excellent capture !!!
Great catch! News Copters have gone the way of the dinosaur here; they used to be used for radio traffic reports, but now all is done via remote controlled cameras located high up on poles or nearby buildings adjacent to expressways. I think that came about after a crash of a local crew may years ago. I like the rotor blur, adds realism to the photo.
These are some very cool captures of the copter, Harry.
Marvelous captures my friend !!!
Yeah, a lotta people have told me that getting prop blur is hard, because if you lengthen your shudder time you get blur everywhere as a result. I've tried it with fans---same principle, just smaller---and found it quite hard to get blur this controlled (ie, where the blades don't just make a big semi-solid 'whirr'). Yes, good clarity for motion shots in the sky, with a p-and-shoot. And they seem so lonely in your captures, so forlorn way up there---which is how they should feel, as they're up there all by themselves. I also like the two tones of the sky, from top to bottom. I always like how you take seriously every sight you see; and I imagine when you don't shoot something, it's either after thinking about it seriously, or because you've shot it many times and it just didn't work as a camera subject. In other words, you gave it your all before you decided not to make finished pics out of it; you take sight seriously, you don't just go for the subjects that are easy...These look like big mosquitoes, and in zoom they really are forlorn. More fine work, Harry.
Well captured! We don't have those here (yet!), thank goodness.. They must have permission first.. We do have Police though.. Rob
