Floating just off the beach at Baiter
I have no interest in Halloween since Trick or Treat was imported here, but I do like the carved pumpkins.

Now there's something I've never seen before - a pumpkin at sea. The swirling ripples of the partly transparent, partly reflective water form some very appealing abstract patterns here...
Great observation !!
Carving pumpkins is a part of the seasons tradition that goes way back before the time of Trick or Treating.Nice shot of the aftermath.
Fantastic shot! :)
Must have been some party - well, until the tide came in. :-D Well spotted.
Mr Pumpkin feeling a little wet minus the top of his head... Halloween is great for pumpkin sales at the very least. My party on the 30th (day early) was a slight disaster on many levels... was so hot the outfits could not be worn for more than 10 minutes at a time, and it turned out somebody at the party was terrified of homicidal clowns bearing demon teeth, death shroud and bloodied machete and bloodied devil hands! oops... limited the free movement, I should have chosen the zombie mask. Oh well.
Great capture of this odd sighting !
I am afraid l am the same Andrea. Bah humbug, l am.
It totally meaningless to me too, but nice find.
This is the most original Hallow'een capture ( can't stand it...just another retal opportunity) BUT this is a great captute. the contrast in the colours and the wonderful sea.
Great capture Andrea - looks like Peter is going to miss a meal! symbolic of how the season has become all wet due to commercialism when in the past it had meaning as in Wiki: Halloween or Hallowe'en (/ˌhæləˈwiːn, -oʊˈiːn, ˌhɑːl-/; a contraction of "All Hallows' Evening"),[6] also known as Allhalloween,[7] All Hallows' Eve,[8] or All Saints' Eve,[9] is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It initiates the triduum of Allhallowtide,[10] the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers.[11] Within Allhallowtide, the traditional focus of All Hallows' Eve revolves around the theme of using "humor and ridicule to confront the power of death."[12] According to many scholars, All Hallows' Eve is a Christianized feast initially influenced by Celtic harvest festivals,[13][14] with possible pagan roots, now of course, we have the Truly Fundamental (heavy on the mental, mind you) Christian who denounces the celebration as associated with the devil and anyone who participates is surely (don't call me Shirley) going to hell.
I don't enjoy the holiday like I did as a kid, I mostly ignore it now. But the pumpkins are fun, especially seeing the animals at the zoo having fun with them. The macaws love destroying them (well, they love destroying everything, with gleeful abandon!) I've never seen one trying to swim away from the torture, though. Great capture!
this is cool here a history where it started ? maybe you find differ histories lol http://www.catholicculture.org/culture/liturgicalyear/overviews/months/10_2.cfm
It happens every year. Too much drinking, the party gets wild and, before you know it, some poor pumpkin gets hurt. I go out on Halloween. This last time it was Lebanese food for dinner and then Flash Gordon and Abbott and Costello movies at the old movie house. There were eight of us and a good time was had by all.
Millions of other carved pumpkins have suffered a similar fate the day after their being becomes meaningless to all but the pumpkins still living. Sad, but a great capture!
Great colour and lovely flowing lines.
Superb capture Andrea. God bless.
It's a weird holiday, and I ignore it. Well ... unless we're with the grandkids! Then I have to play nice. :P This is a fun shot!
Looks like a surrealist picture.
Now that's a unique find, surprised it was still floating. Neat shot.
Marvelous contrast of colors!
That one still looks fresh - maybe the salt water - lovely photo and color!
