Description
!!!IMAGINATION REQUIRED: Squint and pretend the Dixie roadster is a 1918, black Ford Model T truck.
In 1922 my great-grandfather lost an eye to a strand of barbed wire he was stringing, putting an end to his ability to drive. My Grandmother Gladys always figured she could do anything she put her mind to, so at the age of 11, she took over driving her family’s 1918 Ford Model T truck. She wasn’t big enough to see out the windshield AND reach the pedals, so she enlisted her 8-year-old brother Bob to help. She would steer and shift gears while he sat in the floor and taking directions on what pedal to push. “We need to go faster so give it more gas, Bob.” Or ”I have to downshift into second so press on the clutch and tap the brake.” In this way they managed to get their Mother to town each week to trade farm produce for dry goods without mishap until Gladys was big enough to drive solo. After riding with her many times when I was a child, I’m not sure the world wasn’t safer when she had Bob as a co-pilot.

Very cool! ")
A beautiful history and a remarkable image.
What a wonderful funny story and scene!!!!!
Great story and the render is perfect for it!
where there is a will there is a way--unless the way kills you then a will is needed(quote of mine) a fun and superb render
Wonderful render and composition, Teri. A great and funny story too, from your grandmothers cilldhood.
An EPIC story deserving marvelously the sense of its title ! I really like it that, more than to give to the car some imagination, I think the pic deserves some "movement" : because even the past and its lot of memories continues to vibrate in the present and pursues its path towards the future passed on by many ways. Here is an interesting one of them. So please, Tery, may I try to improve this motorised escapade with some postworked layers to show you in return, what you put in my mind and then give you the link ? Cheers dear !
Vroooommm!
