A butterfly taken at the Botanical Gardens. Does anyone know what variety this is? Thanks for viewing my gallery and your comments.

It is a Dryas Julia native to Mexico, Costa Rica and Northern South America. I found it at the web site: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/butterflyguide/orange.htm Beautiful photo by the way.

Very nice capture! Certainly not a butterfly we'd ever see up here in the north.

I never know why english chose "butterfly" (litteraly "mouche à beurre") when french says "papillon" (latin) and germans "schmetterling" ("schmetten","schmand" = cream). Why the butter or the cream ? Très belle image !

They usually don't venture this far North in the USA either. It was a delight to see it.

Such a beautiful one! You might try googling: orange and yellow butterfly? I have never seen this kind before either!
