Ik ben kapot verslagen en ten eind,
Hoop ik kom ooit nog overeind.
Getekend door het leven,
Dat zoveel heeft genomen, en weinig heeft gegeven.
Waarom moest het allemaal zo komen,
Ik had ooit zoveel mooie dromen.
Die zijn nu voorbij,
Soms denk ik het hoeft niet meer voor mij.
Maar toch probeer ik door te gaan,
Me overal doorheen te slaan.
Ooit zal de zon weer schijnen,
En zullen ook bij mij de tranen verdwijnen.

A beautiful, if sad, render, my dear friend, Adrie. Many of us have been where you are today. I offer you my prayers and a brotherly Hug. Over forty years ago, I was saved from the depths of depression by God showing me a tremendous sunrise reflected down the river towards where I stood on a bridge. Hope sprung from my heart, slowly at first, then growing stronger, washing away the tiredness, the dullness, the burdens which had held me down. As a favourite writer, Lutheran sister, Mother Basilea Schlink wrote, many years ago, "We have an almighty Father in heaven. Trust in him and you will experience His miracles." I pray for you, your husband and loved ones, at this time, that your heavenly Father might embrace you, his beloved one, in his strong, safe, loving arms and give you the strength, hope and grace to return to yourself. May God bless and keep you well, dear Adrie.
