Description

Wikipedia says: Solidago, commonly called Goldenrods, is a genus of about 100 to 120 species of flowering plants in the aster family. Most are herbaceous perennial species found in open areas such as meadows, prairies, and savannas. They are mostly native to North America, and a few species are native to Mexico, South America, and Eurasia. Some American species have also been introduced into Europe and other parts of the world. This photo will ZOOM and actually provides better details. This clump of Goldenrods grows behind our home but also in an area called common ground. We do not own that land but we get complaints, from our neighbors that it causes sneezing, dripping noses and other allergic reactions. They are more than welcome to cut it down but that tends to create more allergic reactions around the area because the pollen is scattered everywhere. The goldenrods support multiple species of Bumble Bees, Honey Bees, Wasps and Hornets This common ground area behind us is made up of hundreds of trees, tall grass areas and a small pond. It supports wild turkeys, a huge ground hog, a gorgeous orange fox, a female deer and her 2 young fawns, squirrels, chipmunks and all kinds of birds. Occasionally a black bear will wander through but not all that often. I am so sorry that I am so far behind in my commenting. Jo's parents are settled in assisted living and their house has been cleaned out, painted, new hardwood floors, new bathrooms and appliances. It will be up for sale next week and we will be heading to Florida soon. Once in Florida I hope to get back to more postings and becoming current with my commenting. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana
