I could have put this under the "Aviation" genre, but I was more interested in the colors and the composition than I was in the content.

This makes a really nice abstract and glad that you didn't desaturate it although it would probably look very good !

One of my favorite abstract visual themes - the juxtaposition of mechanical & organic forms (preferably with some aspect of decay, rust or erosion). And the rich colors & textures complete the picture for a very appealing result...

Actually there are six holes not three, all from a American P-37 fighter. Isoroku Yamamoto was an admiral and commander-in-chief of the Japanese navy until his plane was shot down over the island of Bougainville on April 18, 1943 by American aircraft. He was also the chief planner of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was against the war with the United States and is widely thought to have said after Pearl Harbor, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." Turns out he was right but, like a good military man, he did his duty and died in a war in which he did not believe. The wreck of his plane is a tourist attraction to this day. Outstanding capture. A very stark image. Sorry for the long wind but, you know, history major.
