Description

No attempt to turn this one into something artistic, this is a photo I took a few minutes ago from our front door. There have been several lightning strikes this evening that have started fires all over our valley. This one is a few miles from our house (extreme zoom for this close up view). Helitankers have been flying in & so far things seem to be somewhat under control, though fire fighting resources are stretched fairly thin due to the number of strikes. We don't seem to be in any immediate danger & have contacted most of our local friends & they are okay too. But obviously we are going to monitor the situation carefully & are prepared to evacuate quickly if necessary.

Scary stuff; I once woke up to the smell of smoke when I lived in California. When I looked out the window the whole hillside across the street was on fire...not a good feeling! Hope it all got controlled quickly and stays that way!
