I am bowled over by the size of this thing Tara !!! Nice shot.
There's a part of me that thinks: What a lovely iron-oxide-rich planet this would make!... While another part of me sits back and marvels, while saying: What a gorgeous photo... I love the DOF in this, especially the softness of the background in contrast to the textured solidity of the kettle itself. It contains something: water I'm assuming, and that plays so nicely with the soft-focus background. The contrast of colors is simply perfect. Yep. I like this a lot!
I just want to know what's inside the big bowl of water. I bet people throw pennies in there and make wishes; that's what I would do. Of course now that I've got a few years on me, my wish is always the same; "I wish I had all my pennies back."
Also known as syrup kettles. This is an impressive example of the species. I like the patina on this. Excellent image.

I read a diary of a young woman in the South during the Civil War who lived on a sugar plantation (or visited one, or something. I wish I retained half or what I read.) I do remember her writing about sugar kettles. I love the POV and dof of this shot! IRRD (I really really do). :) The texture and light of the kettle and water are wonderful! I love your eye. It is always inspiring, seeing your work. Fantastic image!
