It is important to note that all space stations are designed to be self sustaining depot with medium range cargo ships and mining equipment and always placed near a habitable planet in the event of any catastrophe. Space stations are towed in modular sections and transported via Space-fold which is not practical for every day travel despite the fact that most IGFW Star-ships are equipped with Fold Generators. The Modular sections are then assembled on site and any accompanying ships remain with the station for a full rotation. Placing a station in deep space takes only a few days at most and has made colonization much easier than in previous generations.
