Description
Stratiomis chameleon
It was very exciting to see this insect on an Echium seedling leaf while I was doing my hosepipe rain dance last evening.
(Which, I have to tell you, was extremely successful, resulting in a satisfying downpour!)
There are 4 of this fly, 2 here and 2 on Flickr, see another Here

Such excellent detail in this shot and with a Panasonic TZ3, I often use a TZ5 and they are great series of cameras, they punch way above their weight and price bracket.
Fantastic macro .
Lovely to meet it head on - excellent shot.
Amazing close up.
Fantastic !!! Very great detail and nice colors !!! A very great shot.
Cool head-on shot
Outstanding series, each one better than the last. The fourth image is just stunning in its detail and POV. I hope you made it clear that you are a noncombatant and come in peace.
Another succesful shot of this beauty :-)
Very nice macro...Outstanding! Aloha
Awesome shot of the Soldier Fly, Andrea, all set to go to war, but sans armament. Or maybe it is equipped with weapons I can't detect. And, speaking of Tizzies, whatever happened to model 25?
'RUN FOR YOUR LIFE IT'S A WASP!............just trying to make it feel good!
Both this shot and the other are really cool. I also thought wasp when I saw the image.
fantastic !!
There really is something soldier-like in its bearing and shape. Such engaging images!
great macro, great details
Amazing capture Andrea. God bless.
Amazing detail, wow!
You have found a little beauty here.
Wow! Excellent capture!
I like both of these 'head' shots and Tizzy3 is still very sharp!
